Bloggy Giveaway!

Contest is now closed.

I'm late getting started, but decided on a whim to participate in the Bloggy Giveaways Carnival.

As a new blogger, I'd be delighted if you'd peek through my posts and leave a comment or suggestion for improvement!

The giveaway (for residents of the continental U.S. only) from this site is ...*drum roll*...

A brand name car seat for children 22-80 pounds and 34" to 52" in height. Purchased on July 4, 2008, the item will be shipped in its original wrapper ... was used about four times during a grandchild's visit.

Looking forward to your comments and suggestions!

Note: Deadline for giveaway entries will be midnight (12:00 a.m.) ET on Friday, August 1, 2008.

I don't know what I'd mention for improvements. I like your header. A few pictures (one or two) would be fun so that people can see who is writing the blog. Otherwise, just keep posting and it's great! (I thought the preserved peas and carrots post was funny.)

We could sure use that car seat so I hope I win!

I have to say my favorite post of yours is the OOM as I am in the same boat also! With my third baby on the way as an at home mom there never seems to be enough money to go around! But we wouldn't change it!! Thanks for the opportunity!!

Glad you realized that your initial expectations for each post were not realistic and so allowed yourself more freedom

The only thing I can think of is pictures. If you talk about something show it. I'm weird like that and it really helps people visualize you.

Great giveaway!

LadySnow said...

I agree with the person above...pictures help...even if they are just graphics. I have a hard time staying focused otherwise. :D

Your header is cute! As far as improvements go, I'd love to see some links to websites you enjoy! I like checking out what other people are checking out!

Thanks for the giveaway! We have our first baby due in November, and we sure could use a free car seat for him!

Thanks again!

I agree with the above poster. Pictures are always what I look for in a great post. Clip art is ok on some occasions, but pictures are great!

With a new baby on the way another carseat will be a necessity! I hope I win! :)

Your posts are wonderful!! I'm still laughing at the Preservation of Peas and Carrots! Funny, I'm finding that those things I did as a child are coming back to bite me in the butt with my own kiddies! I would have loved to see a picture of your grandson...and his veggies! :)

I don't need a carseat (Thank GOD! lol), but I wanted to leave you a comment anyway!

I'm beyond thrilled that you're blogging again (and I love everything about your blog!)... and I'm also thrilled that you're playing along with the Carnival.

Are we having fun yet?!?!
XOXO.

I could so use this!! I keep my niece a lot and we are constantly having to take the car seat in and out of cars. It would be great to have one of my own for her to use!!! As far as your blog, the only thing I can think of right now is to use more pics and graphics to make it really eye-catching. Good luck!!!

I like your blog, I'd just add some photos (unless you want to remain completely annonymous. But pictures are always great. I loved the OOM post. We've got two boys (20 months and 2 weeks) so far, and OOM is our life. We live with my family to save money, which means the 4 of us live in one room...not a one-room apartment, but one room. We make it work though and are grateful for the generosity we've felt.
Fabulous giveaway by the way!

The car seat would be great to have. We are needing a new one.

A blog tip...don't force yourself to blog often, but when you want to. It's a hobby, not a job.

If you go to my page, there is a little box at the top, on the left hand site that says something like Cutest Blog on the Block. If you click on that, you can view their templates and use one of those if you like :)

Welcome to blogland, you will love it here :)

I peeked around and the one suggestion I would give is to use your own photos with your posts, instead of clip art....but that may be a matter of personal preference! ;)

I like your header, but the background color doesn't match too well. You might try to find a brighter blue or green. Of course, I'm none to criticize... I have a generic background on mine!

My favorite tips -- break up long posts into a lot of paragraphs and add pictures whenever possible! Great job so far, though!

Julie said...

You should add a cute background to you blog! There are lots out there but I like onecuteblog.blogspot.com! I'd love a carseat!

Anonymous said...

I liked your try try again post....Just remember on your blog everything does not have to be perfect. Just blog as you have time.

emerzim said...

I like the more lax attitude you have in this new attempt at blogging. I think it'll make it more fun. Set a goal, like 1 post per week, and adjust your expectations from there. And add a picture! :)

Estelle said...

I agree with the other posters, pictures always make a blog more interesting. Anything that declares this post is yours, be it links to your favorite sites, designs that are all your own style, would be great. So far everything looks great though! Thanks for the chance to win!

Liz said...

I really need a new one my is over 8 years old and now I'm picking up my grandson everyday, and being on a fixed income I can't afford a new one. I'm keeping my fingers crossed

Unknown said...

I would definitely say add some pics in the sidebar. Some of you, your kids, grandkids, pets, hubby, vacations, whatever.

I just like to see a lot of color and "meet" the blogger, so to speak!

Blakely said...

I would love a car seat. It would be great for when my nephew comes to visit.

kristine said...

I now have a second child and one of them is moving into a new carseat soon here...
I agree on the pictures thign. you definitely need a picture of at least yourself. Also, more blogs you like...get out there and explore!!

Trish said...

I think you need more pictures as well. Some people are very visual and too many words scares them away. Good luck! thanks for the chance to win!

Crunchy Green Mom - Suzanne said...

Ok.. my advice.

#1) Make a goal to write everyday for a year, even if it's just the words "I feel blah". It is a wonderful goal to keep up with.

#2) I commented on OOM, you must write more... I promise to visit 6 days a week! Know that you will have a captive audience

#3) I have a post here that will tell you where to go to get a free blog makeover. She does amazing work! All for free, she is a great artist. http://crunchygreenmom.blogspot.com/2008/07/thank-you-to-modern-mamas.html

#4) I would love this carseat. My littlest one is 7 months, and I have a car seat that my 19 month old is using, however she will need her own carseat if I give it to the little one. This would come in handy since I live in a perpetual OOM state. All of my bills are paid, but that is the last of it.

Great giveaway! Thank you for the wonderful reading and great giveaway!

Maybe a profile picture would help, it's always nice to see the face of the writer. I always use pictures of my babies! I'm enjoying your blog so far. I'm so not a writer so I haven't tried a blog just yet. :)

The car seat would be awesome since we have a 14 month old growing out of her baby one. The weight limit is 20lbs and she IS 20lbs. So we are saving for a new one. Thanks for a generous giveaway.

You like you are at a great start with the blog. I like that you put a picture in most posts, seems easier to read that way.

I don't have any advice on the actual blog since that is a personal thing in my opinion. Just comment on other blogs, that is how friendships start to build.

I like the title of your blog with the header. Here's a suggestion: whenever I go to a new blog, I like to look on the sidebar for a list of categories so that I can go directly to posts that are related to my interests. You could organize it by your children's families or any other topics that you frequently write about. Hope the new blogging works out! Thanks for the giveaway. claireroach81(at)hotmail(dot)com

I am so glad I came across this giveaway. As all of you know carseats are expensive. Especially when you are a novice and you don't buy the right type when you are first starting out. We have learned this the hard way. We are on our third child who we found out is borderline of growing out of her infant carseat. Our two year old is about to reach 40 pounds and his carseat only goes up to 40 and we just bought a booster for our 4 year old. We have carseats coming out of our ears but only still not enough because of the growing demands of our children. I would love this carseat.Thanks.

As for a suggestion on an improvement. The header is great. you may look into putting in a background and changing the colors of your sidebars. Here is a great site for help.
http://tips-for-new-bloggers.blogspot.com/2007/03/background-image-for-blogger-template.html
Hope that helps. I'm not much for help, but good luck and thanks again.
